AI companions move into engineering tasks
Dassault Systèmes announced global availability of AURA, LEO and MARIE on 3DEXPERIENCE SaaS on July 29. Its SOLIDWORKS community update describes examples involving imported geometry, assembly performance, change impact and assembly instructions. Access to particular functions depends on the platform and available competencies.
MST perspective: ask about a concrete job
For a mechanical engineer, the useful question is what an assistant can do with the current model and the next intended change. An assembly review and the creation of assembly instructions are different deliverables.
What to verify
Select one representative task, record the starting model and inspect the returned result. Check what remains editable and what the engineer must review. Vendor examples show the direction of a product; they do not establish the same outcome for every equipment family or provide evidence of MST performance.
