Finding engineering knowledge by meaning

PTC’s Codebeamer update describes customer-hosted AI infrastructure, semantic search across requirements, tests and engineering artifacts, and authoring assistance. The focus is engineering information and lifecycle traceability, rather than the generation of CAD geometry.

MST perspective: reuse includes understanding context

A useful historical requirement or test can save a team from repeating investigation. Before adapting it, the engineer needs to understand which product, revision and conditions it belongs to.

What to evaluate

Ask the system to find information for a concrete engineering question. Check whether the result identifies its source and whether the engineer can verify its applicability. Compare search, interpretation and review time with the current process. Hosting flexibility does not remove the need to configure permissions and review the actual deployment.
