Thesis: industrial AI becomes an engineering product only when an identified input is transformed into a native artifact, the artifact is tested against declared obligations, and unsupported certainty fails closed under human authority.
From P&ID PDF to Evidence-Verified Native SolidWorks Assemblies
The product begins before CAD. A P&ID PDF carries symbols, tags, linework, direction, conditional state and project-specific ambiguity. Those observations must retain source evidence while becoming a directed engineering graph. Only then can the system bind enterprise part identity, approved native geometry and physical interfaces.
The physical solver combines discrete component selection with continuous three-dimensional placement and routing. Blocks, bridges, layer changes, elbows and tubing are not drawing decorations: they change the physical implementation and bill of materials.
The compiler boundary
The solved result becomes Assembly IR: components, interfaces, connections, poses, mates, routing tasks and evidence obligations expressed before a CAD vendor API is called. The SolidWorks adapter executes that deterministic contract using existing qualified component models and produces a new editable .sldasm.
Proof after generation
The output is reopened. Component identities, mates, rebuild state and interface facts are read back from the native artifact. Each in-scope P&ID edge must map through a physical path to realized SolidWorks facts. Missing evidence produces review, fail-closed or cannot-verify—not a silent pass.
What is and is not claimed
The current boundary is controlled semiconductor gas-panel, gas-box and stick assemblies using approved P&ID, BOM, component libraries and Rulepacks. This paper does not claim arbitrary whole-machine design, universal dirty-CAD understanding, automated production release or verified deployment in every adjacent industrial domain.
